"......My ultimate goal is to be a female version of Tom Hanks. Ok! Wow! You have this crazy look on your face but a lot of people assume I'm going to say Halle Berry or Angela Bassett. Why? Cause they're black? I don't want there to be a race barrier where its, She's a good BLACK actress. I want it to be She's a great actress. I LOVE Denzel Washington, Larenz Tate, & Angela Bassett and I want to follow their method of taking it there every single time and Denzel has now started producing and directing but there's something about Tom Hanks' career choices that is most intriguing to me. This man went from a show like "Bosom Buddies", to movies like "BIG", then to "Philadelphia", to "Forrest Gump" . He hasnt played the same character twice. He takes it there ALL the time and that range is so amazing. I know I have that range; I just want to be able to execute my creativity in front of and behind the cameras. I want to do it all..strike that... I am going to do it all". Denyce L

Born in Seoul, South Korea to Gregory & Wan Lawton. she is the middle child of three. Denyce was a military brat
living abroad in such countries as Korea, Japan, and Germany. In the United States, her family has lived almost
everywhere including, Kansas, North Carolina, New Jersey, and Washington DC.
" I can remember everytime we had to move; losing friends I had just made and having to readjust to a new way of life. I
had to worry about not fitting in or not knowing if I was going to make real friends this time around. I think that's when my
creative juices started flowing. I developed physically pretty early, like in the 4th grade, so I wasnt allowed to play football
or basketball with the guys anymore and there weren't any girls on my block. So I started spending more time by myself,
writing short stories and sketching my own illustrations to go with them. I made little comic strips for people in school. I was
so corny hahahaha. I listened to this little radio I had and it only had two stations; a talk station and an oldies station.I
guess that why I love the old school stuff more. I watched so much TV, to the point where my friends and family call me the
human TV guide. You're laughing but it's true. I quote movies all day. I have friends who are in music, so for some lyrics,
they'll call me asking who said blah blah blah and I'll be like "oh that was Martin Lawrence in You So Crazy!..."
Well, I'm sure Denyce didn't have too many problems fitting in wherever she was. Attending Largo High School
among being in the Honors Pre-Med Science Biotechnology Program, Vice-President of the Future Teachers of
America, she was also on the Yearbook Staff, Drama Club, Honors Band, and in charge of the school store. After
school hours, she was an active thespian at the Shakespeare Theatre in Downtown D.C. and held 2 after school jobs.
Working at Stride-Rite Shoes in one mall and was assistant manager on weekends at KB Toys in another mall. She
spent her summers as a student Realtor for Southern Management Properties in Maryland. It's a wonder how she
had time to study and still graduate with honors with an overall 4.2 GPA. Wondering what her SAT's were like???
Let's just say she was shy about 200 odd points from a perfect average.
Denyce later attended college abroad in Yokosuka, Japan and attended the University of Maryland where she
majored in Pre-Med studies to become a Cardiologist and still dabbled a little in her first love by minoring in Black &
White Photography and Broadcast Journalism. Denyce soon decided Medicine wasn't an interest of hers anymore so
she took time off from school to re-prioritize her career goals. When she made the final decision to go forward with
her love of the Arts & Entertainment, she began to waitress, bartend, and promote parties in Chocolate City to save
money to pursue her acting and modeling career. In 1999, she was offered an Executive Assistant position at Warner
Bros. Records Urban Promotions in New York City. She took advantage of NYC and began modeling for FUBU, ADIDAS,
Enyce, Karl Kani and Kemi Oil. She later moved on to do A & R for Priority Records, and was a personal Assistant to
Ja Rule & Irv Gotti at Murder Inc. Records. Denyce was also an Assistant Junior Publicist at 20th Century Fox Films in
NY before she decided to move back to Los Angeles, California in December 2001 to officially take Hollywood by
storm.
In less than 4 years of being in Hollywood, Denyce has had an impressive resume of appearances on hit TV Sitcoms,
Films, Magazines, Commercials (Visit her Press and Resume pages for a complete list of Denyce's
accomplishments)
With the conclusion of her interview with a great sense of humor, Denyce jokingly quotes a scene from "Coming to
America"
" Yeah I wanna work in videos but really I wanna be my own star in the videos because I wanna become a pop singer nd
a rock singer and write my own songs and produce my own songs and then I was gonna try actress cause people tell me
how talent I am and I'm a natural and stuff and then I'm gonna write my own stories and direct my own stories and you
know produce the movies I'm doing"
And Ms. Lawton is doing exactly that! This quadruple-threat has been a silent writer and behind the treatments of
some of your favorite music videos. She's currently working on a Biography project of one of her biggest influences
but wishes to not reveal the ACTRESS' name just yet. She has revealed that she has 6 completed movie scripts, 2
sitcom treatments, a 1960's movie re-write and 3 episodics that she is currently shopping. On top of that, she has
just finished a supporting role in an upcoming film called "IT AIN'T EASY" also starring Clifton Powell, Michael
Rapaport, Peter Greene, Anthony Anderson, Katt Williams, & Mack 10. That isn't it. Denyce has just finished filming
"THE PENDULUM" in NYC which is also starring Nichole Robinson, in which Denyce is the Leading Lady! How else
should it be???
